I envy your relationship with Pop. Not only did you have different names for our grandparents, but you had a special, very personal relationship. Thanks for sharing.
Think it was Gramps who nicknamed me Pepitone. Another “Joe”. I felt like I was sitting next to you in the car rattling off statistics as you often did. Good on you to make the effort to “return the favor” creating lasting memories. Beautiful.
So sweet, so tender. I think this is why we love the game, for the relationships and memories we share. Of course, if our team wins, it’s all the sweeter 😊
This one made me cry, Wayne...in a good way. When I was in college, I lived with my grandmother for awhile and we became close. I feel grateful and sad about that in equal measure, wishing I had forged that relationship earlier. You and your grandfather were lucky to have one another.
These memories were so special for me to read. Beautifully written Wayne.
Thank you, Jim.

Thanks, Clarissa. I once wrote a piece about all the different names for grandparents. It's pretty mind-boggling. Hope you are well.
Wonderful...thanks Wayne...

Wow! That was sweet! My Mom was the Mets fan! Brings some memories back! Thank you!
